Cookie policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to website owners.

How we use cookies

CareCompliant uses cookies to improve your experience on our website. We use the following types of cookies:

Essential cookies

These cookies are necessary for the website to function properly. They enable core functionality such as security, session management, and accessibility. You cannot opt out of these cookies as the website would not function correctly without them.

Name Purpose Duration Type
carecompliant_session Maintains your session while using the application 2 hours Essential
XSRF-TOKEN Protects against CSRF attacks 2 hours Essential
cookie_consent Remembers your cookie choice (stored in your browser's local storage rather than as a cookie) Until you clear your browser data Essential

Analytics cookies

We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how visitors use our website. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect any personal data. It provides us with aggregate information about page views and visitor counts without tracking individuals.

We also use Google Analytics 4 (delivered through Google Tag Manager) and Hotjar to understand how visitors use our website. Hotjar provides heatmaps and session recordings that show how visitors interact with our pages. These services set cookies, but only if you accept them through our cookie banner:

Name Purpose Duration Type
_ga Distinguishes visitors for Google Analytics 2 years Analytics
_ga_* Maintains session state for Google Analytics 2 years Analytics
_hjSessionUser_* Identifies a returning visitor for Hotjar 1 year Analytics
_hjSession_* Holds current session data for Hotjar 30 minutes Analytics

Advertising cookies

We use Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our advertising on Meta platforms such as Facebook and Instagram. It sets the following cookie, but only if you accept cookies through our cookie banner:

Name Purpose Duration Type
_fbp Identifies browsers for Meta advertising measurement 3 months Advertising

What happens if you decline

If you decline cookies through our banner, no analytics or advertising cookies are set, and Meta Pixel and Hotjar are not loaded at all. Our Google tags operate under Google consent mode, which means they still send limited, cookieless signals to Google: the page address you visited, the referring page and basic browser and device information. Advertising click identifiers are redacted from these signals. Google uses this data to produce aggregate, modelled measurement rather than to identify or profile you.

Preference cookies

These cookies remember choices you make to improve your experience:

Name Purpose Duration Type
theme_preference Remembers your light/dark mode preference 1 year Preference
dismissed_notices Remembers notices you have dismissed 30 days Preference

Third-party cookies

If you accept analytics and advertising cookies, the third-party services listed above (Google, Meta and Hotjar) set cookies in accordance with their own privacy policies: Google, Meta and Hotjar. Plausible Analytics does not use cookies.

If you access our application through integrations with third-party services, those services may set their own cookies according to their own cookie policies.

Managing cookies

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can:

  • View what cookies are stored on your device
  • Delete all or specific cookies
  • Block all cookies or cookies from specific sites
  • Set your browser to notify you when a cookie is set

Please note that blocking essential cookies may affect the functionality of our website and application.

You can also change the choice you made in our cookie banner at any time. Clearing your browser's stored data for our website removes your saved choice and the banner will appear again on your next visit.

For more information about managing cookies in your browser, visit your browser's help pages or allaboutcookies.org.

Changes to this policy

We may update this cookie policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We encourage you to review this page periodically for the latest information.
